Dublin City Council and Enterprise Ireland announced the winners of phase 1 of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) competition launched last March. The call out sought to find smart technology solutions to help improve and scale up cycling across Dublin. It generated 98 expressions of interest and 23 proposals. Of those 23, 14 were invited to pitch their idea and 5 have been selected. 3 of these Phase 1 winners have offered to present their projects on Monday 10th starting 8pm, in the Central Hotel.

• Ambie introducing BikeLook which monitors bicycle usage and deters and detects bicycle theft.

• The Liberty Bell project by Fluidedge collects and presents qualitative data on perceived barriers to safe cycling in Dublin City. Using an IoT bicycle bell to log issues, a diverse range of cyclists safely record when and where they feel unsafe. Their insights can contribute to improving the cycling experience for all.

• Limeforge Ltd. offers the See.Sense tracker providing a ‘find your iphone’ like capability allowing cyclists to easily track their stolen bikes, as well as collecting crowdsourced real-time data useful for planning of cycle infrastructure and broader smart city applications.
