Growing Cycling Participation and Closing the Gender Gap
Three years into the National Cycle Policy Framework (NCPF), this conference will assess its progress in bringing positive change to cycling in Ireland. It will emphasise the necessity of focusing on women and young people to achieve the target of 10% cycling participation by 2020. Papers will be presented from Irish and European perspectives with new initiatives and ideas. It will provide essential guidelines for officials, professionals and practitioners.
We have a terrific line-up for the conference. The 2012 event builds on our ever-popular Annual Cycling Lecture and Conference Series running since 2004 and featuring some of the best thinkers and speakers in the cycling planning field. Scroll down to register. Note that concessionary conference fee of just €20 is available for members of Dublin Cycling Campaign + students + OAP’s + unwaged. We want as many people as possible to be there.
Location and Venue
The conference will take place in the Joly Lecture theatre in the Hamilton Building of Trinity College Dublin. This is located at the far East end (i.e. the Westland Row end) of Trinity’s campus. You can see it on this map: http://www.tcd.ie/Maps/assets/pdf/tcd-main-campus.pdf The easiest way to access the find the Hamilton building is to walk/cycle in through the Lincoln Street gate (which is just alongside the red brick Dublin Dental Hospital) or else walk (with your bicycle) through the little tunnel alongside the Science Gallery (which you’ll see on that map as lying between the Naughton Institute and the Sports Centre at the Pearse Street / Westland Row corner of the campus). A further alternative is to walk through the campus from the College Green or Nassau Street gates but these routes are more circuitous. Please allow plenty of time to arrive on time for the conference.
