Dublin based custom bike manufacturers 'Funked Up' win 2014 Propeller Program for Start-Ups

Congratulations to Dublin based custom bike manufacturers ‘Funked Up’ who have just been announced as winners of the prestigious 2014 Propeller Program for start-ups companies. Facing stiff competition from 5 other finalists (chosen from 100’s of company entrants), the brand’s range of uniquely customisable single-speed bikes saw them win the day.

Funked Up have been and running since 2011 and customers design their bikes using the innovative customiser on the FunkedUp.com website. The bikes are then assembled in Dublin and shipped within 7 days to any destination. The bikes have proven extremely popular and are being exported from Dublin to cities such as Paris, Berlin and Copenhagen and the ever-growing demand for stylish urban bikes has seen them recently expand their sales to Spain, Italy and beyond. In Ireland the brand has seen take-up from Irish rugby stars such as Jamie Heaslip, Rob Kearney and Devin Toner.

After being awarded the prize Olaf O’Moore, CEO of Funked Up Fixies said that, “this award is really important to us as it is good for Irish business and also for adding to the momentum behind recreating a strong cycling culture in Dublin and all around Ireland. The award helps with the growth of urban cycling in particular and dovetails with the great work of Dublin Cycling Campaign”.

Dublin Cycling Campaign members are encouraged to enter a competition to win their own custom bike. Head to Funked Up blog at http://www.funkedupfixies.com/blog/competition
