Dublin City Council have been advancing the design and construction of state-of-the-art cycling facilities in the city with the support of the National Transport Authority (NTA). Right now they are asking YOU to have your say in deciding the fate of the proposed Liffey Cycle Route. These proposals are a major statement by the Council and huge step forward for catering for bikes in Dublin city.

Come along and learn about the proposals so as to help make your decision on the best design option for this exciting development.

Starts 8pm sharp. Admission free. Please spread the word!

Further Information and Completing the Survey
On this Dublin City Council page you can find details of the four options: http://www.dublincitycycling.ie/blog/?p=1479

On this page, you can (and should) complete the survey on route preferences: https://consultation.dublincity.ie/corporate-services/liffey-cycle-route…

Dublin Cycling Campaign supports Option 3 (2-way cycle track on the North Quays with buses rerouted to north of Croppy Acre which would be extended down towards the Liffey - pictured above) but we also maintain that the designs need to go further. We will post more information on this soon – keep an eye on https://www.facebook.com/dublincycling - but in the meantime we suggest you check out Cian Ginty’s blog: http://irishcycle.com/2015/03/20/why-3-is-the-best-of-the-liffey-cycle-r….

Dublin Cycling Campaign has been active throughout the extensive stakeholder consultation processes (in 2012 and 2014) which led to the short-listing of these four options for consideration.

We strongly believe that Dubliners deserve a safe and attractive east-west route to link with, amongst other places, Heuston Station, the Phoenix Park, O’Connell Street, the IFSC, The Point (as it was called)… and other places en route! We want everyone aged “8 to 80” to be able to ride their bicycle in the city - and not just the existing fit and confident cyclists using the quays. We also want Dubliners to be able to enjoy spending time near the Liffey - and for the Quays not simply to be treated as motor-dominated public space as they have been for many decades. [Further reasons to support the route are here: http://irishcycle.com/2015/03/02/12-reasons-why-the-liffey-cycle-route-s… ] It’s time for a change.

If you support Dublin Cycling Campaign’s tireless work on this and other campaigns, do please join up - http://www.dublincycling.ie/join - the (modest) subscription fee helps us to win these crucial campaigns. Thank you.
