Growing Dublin Cycling Campaign – Funding / Fundraising Expertise Sought!

Since its foundation in 1993 (in response to cycling being almost completely ignored by the transport profession) Dublin Cycling Campaign has grown into a strong advocacy organisation and we have succeeded in moving cycling in towards the centre of transport thinking. We’re very organised, have a great volunteering ethos and are a lead member of Cyclist.ie – the Irish Cycling Advocacy Network which lobbies at a national level for much greater investment in cycling.

However, compared to city cycling advocacy organisations abroad – such as San Francisco Bicycle Coalition – Dublin Cycling Campaign is a small organisation with no paid staff, no office and not nearly enough members!

One of our strategic aims therefore is to grow into a much stronger organisation with a paid professional dimension (and ideally a central drop-in office space) so we can better represent the needs of everyday cyclists and hence make Dublin a properly cycling-friendly city. To do this, we need serious funding and so we are now seeking the volunteering help of a member / supporter with expertise in this area. If you are skilled in applying for funding (corporate / state / other), we would love to hear from you; or perhaps you work in an organisation with a Corporate Social Responsibility department that is looking out for great advocacy bodies to support? If so, please contact Campaign member, and Cyclist.ie’s National Cycling Coordinator, Damien Ó Tuama (damien.otuama[at]antaisce.org) - we would love to hear from you!

Equally, you may have other skills you want to share or have time on your hands to help out – if so, let us know here. We need support on multiple fronts! Thank you.
